Gene Roddenberry: Boldly Going Where No One Had Gone Before »
Posted by: Wil 1 year, 2 months ago"Saturday night, I was given the tremendous honor of inducting Gene Roddenberry into the Science Fiction Hall of Fame in Seattle. For the three of you [who don't know], Gene created Star Trek. I was lucky enough to know him, and too young to appreciate it at the time." [Warning: site may be NSFW]

Wil,
I'm sitting at work with tears in my eyes. I periodically need a boost when it comes to faith in humanity. It's great that both you and Rod appreciate the significance of your gift. Funny how I can be proud of someone I've never met.

I'll say it again, Wil. You are an amazing writer and a great human being. That was an incredible thing to do for his son. I got a little teary at my desk, too.

I'm not able to look at this just yet, but I know I'll love it when I do. You rarely let me down, good sir.

roddenberry's nobel vision of the human being still stands in strong contrast to what our political hacks are capable of articulating.
given the forces against him, that he was able to produce anything at all seems to be a minor miracle.
and yes wil, we all give you permission to be more political.

Wil, I was very impressed with your speech and your comments about writing your speech and how it felt to present this award. I was 7 when Star Trek came out and it had a profound effect on me. It is awesome to hear the same sentiments about what Star Trek meant to me coming from your mouth. Tears welled up in my eyes when you talked about your getting the ensign bars and then to give them to his son! WOW Wil...I am truly amazed and in awe of the heart you have. I enjoyed watching you grow up on TNG and think you are an inspiration for your or any generation. And, you are one of the few celebrities that I have ever seen that would come in and post a comment to those posting about you. You are definitely a class act. Keep up the good work.
