A new survey from Pew Research judged the levels of knowledgeability (correct answers) among those surveyed and found that those who scored the highest were regular watchers of The Daily Show and Colbert Report. Virtually bringing up the rear were regular watchers of Fox News. Only 1 in 3 could answer 2 out of 3 questions correctly.

"Question #7 is an opinion:
"The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court is John Roberts. Can you tell me if he is generally considered a liberal, a moderate, or a conservative?"
It completely depends on the point of view of the observers."
Maybe if you're three. lol

Roberts is a prime mover in the Federalist Society, an ultra-rightwingnut organization which showcases its contempt for the seperation of powers; promotes the delusional notion of the Unitary Executive; and champions corporate supremacy, state corporatism, the supremacy of the State and theocracy. In essence, the Federalists reject EVERYTHING the American Revolution was based upon.
Other Federalist Society stalwarts are Scalia, Thomas and Alito, together they work to diminish individual freedoms formerly granted by the Bill of Rights to advance the fascist dystopia so dear to Repugnants and the Faux Spews Network.

Outside of the United States he is believed to be a Conservative.

If an American considers Justice Roberts a Moderate I can only assume America leads more to the right. (Which it does)

2 out of 3 ain't bad.
hahaha. I was shocked that the viewers of the morning shows scored less than Faux viewers, I didn't think anyone could be less informed. Well, maybe the viewers of morning shows are less informed and the Faux viewer are just full of sh.....err, lies, propaganda, corporate view/news.....

I wasn't surprised to hear about this survey which is making the blogosphere rounds today. I think it really speaks to the difference between journalistic standards in news reporting and ideology. The Daily Show and Colbert Report crowd get most of their information from print sources, mostly in independent news venues and foreign press which are not subject to the lapdog gyrations of the corporate media amnesia industry in the US. Faux Spews is not a news organization, it is a propatainment network that is entirely filtered by neocon ideology. Propaganda is ideologically driven and that's what Faux Spews offers: a steady diet of ideological offal for wingnut swine to regurgitate.

"The fact that a particular news source's audience is very knowledgeable does not mean that people learned all that they know from that source. As noted earlier, some news sources draw especially well-educated audiences who are keenly interested in politics. Because of their education and life experiences, these individuals have more background information and may be better able to retain what they see in the news, regardless of where they see it. "
IE don't put a whole lot into the results

Right, which is why they are more informed. You are fighting an un-winnable battle.

David said: "Are you referring to Stewart & Colbert viewers?"
What's funny is that the viewers of "The Simpsons" would have scored better than those that watch the cable FOX news. LMAO

I took the quiz. I really can't believe that there are people out there who don't know the answers to these questions.

I took the quiz and got 9 of 9 answers correct...
...and I watch the News Hour, The Daily Show and The Colbert Report

You have way too much invested into a TV station. Why do they deserve your undying loyalty? I'll let you in on the big joke here since the humor escapes you. Here is the BIG difference between FOX News and Stewart/Colbert shows. FOX news is SUPPOSED to be a reputable news organization. Stewart/Colbert are comedy shows. See! Do you get the difference? One is supposed to be informative but it's not. The other is not supposed to be informative but it is. Now giggle.
Oh, BTW, congrats on your quiz scores. You did well in spite of your viewing preference. But then again, you do get your news from other sources as well. Now if you only watched FOX...(shrug) Who is to know how you would have done.

" took the quiz and got 8 out of 9 correct...
I got the opinion question wrong... as did 50% of people polled.
John Roberts is definitely a moderate - He does not tow the Republican or Democratic party line."
Sorry, John Roberts is a federalist, so quit with the third grade playground lies, eh? lol
"I guess if I was brainwashed by Stewart of Colbert, I would have gotten that one right!"
You seem to guess a lot of stuff.

Look, David, the question wasn't about what Roberts is. It was about what he's "generally considered." If he were the most liberal justice in the history of the Supreme Court, it wouldn't matter. It was a question about what you know about public opinion about Roberts. And I'll agree that's not as important a thing to know about him as the fact that he's a member of the Federalist Society.

The mainstream media still refers to Matt Drudge for their leads. No wonder some (very) smart comedians are better sources of news.
Funny bit. About the whole "FoxNews says exactly the opposite" approach like, "liberals hate freedom," while neo-cons dismantle the Bill of Rights kind of thing.
(It works for almost anything political FoxNews was saying for a long time...)
Anyway, a few weeks ago they quipped, "FoxNews- Fair Balanced, and Unafraid."
They are scared s***less.

I do not care where I get info from but I would prefer Fox News to other forms of press on the TV. But I do not limit myself to only Fox News either! So tainted surveys and ramdom research can be spun for one side or other mean nothing to me either! I also have watched those shows too! If you are a news buff you would not limit your sources even if they lean one or other! Because news can be spun it sway you opinion on subjects and it is done everyday!

Interestingly enough, accurate information is key to making informed decisions in a democracy. If the information from your preferred news source does not allow you to answer factual questions, how can your opinions on issues be informed as well?
Again, the key to understanding issues and positions is a requirement for informed voting. If Fox News viewers cannot answer straightforward questions about the nation, the economy and the world, how can they be expected to be active and viable members of the democracy, instead of uninformed people whose opinions are easy to manipulate?
