Television – One of the bloggers at TV Squad was approached by the assistant to the CEO at LinkedIn about possibly being a candidate on the next 'The Bachelor'. Is this the theme for the next season?
Karina:
The blogger approached happens to be Tom Biro, who is also a Netscape Navigator. Here's what Tom has to say about the offer:
Karina: What was your initial response when you received the email?
Tom: I was actually really surprised when I got the email. I use LinkedIn primarily for business purposes, and find it to be one of the better - if not the best - social networking site to use on a regular basis and actually get a lot of things done. But it all checked out when I looked where the mail came from, so then I was just kinda impressed by it.
Karina: Why do you think producers of this kind of reality/mating show would look for contestants on LinkedIn, rather than a social networking site where users tend to express more about their lifestyle and/or personality?
Tom: Based on the comments in the email, I think they chose LinkedIn purely for professional background. Presumably they are vetting people on a number of different things, and perhaps they chose to use a number of these sites, including LinkedIn, in order to see what kind of cross-section they could get without doing a ton of legwork beforehand.
Karina: How have you responded to the inquiry?
Tom: I haven't responded as of yet, but I do plan on responding and politefully declining. I'm in an awesome relationship, and I think that going on The Bachelor would be kind of counterproductive for that, frankly. And yes, pretty much everyone has told me I have to do it - but I'm still not going to.

That is too funny!! But I must dare to say that the Bachelor is definitely one of those shows that should be cancelled. It has run its course and it is just not fun to watch anymore. Even the previews that they have been shoing of the upcoming season don't attract me at all.
I would suggest not doing it, and sticking to the regular method of meeting people.

Tom would have been great to watch on TV.
