Chappelle: 'I'll Come Back... with a few conditions' »
Posted by: coreyspring 2 years agoDave Chappelle was once again a guest on Oprah today where he again talked about his dispute with Comedy Central over the show that bears his name. At the end of the program, Chappelle looked directly at the camera and addressed Comedy Central, stating he would be glad to finish the show he started with them... if they could work out a few things.

Aug. 22, 2006, 6:20 p.m.I think his interview with Oprah originally aired months ago before the release of his movie Block Party.

Aug. 22, 2006, 9:24 p.m.Chappele isn't funny.
Hell, he isn't even Jewish.
Now, Henny Youngman- there was a comedian...

Aug. 22, 2006, 9:48 p.m.This is old. And Chappele IS funny, but I won't beg him to come back or do funny stuff. If he won't, then someone else is waiting in the wings. He's not the only funny guy out there.
I get fed up with the rich and famous getting rich and famous and THEN deciding that what they are doing is wrong and they aren't going to do it anymore.
GIVE ALL YOUR MONEY AWAY to a charity, then come back and start from scratch with your new CONSCIENCE APPROVED material and see if you make it. If you do, then good for you. If not, then you may want to rethink that material and whether it is so bad or not.
Or relax in obscurity and poverty. But QUIT WHINING.

Aug. 22, 2006, 10:03 p.m.I guess I'm not sure because they mentioned that Chappelle's movie Block Party was now out on DVD, which it wasn't in February.

Aug. 22, 2006, 11:12 p.m.Ok here's my problem. First off I think he's a pretty funny guy. If I was Comedy Central I wouldn't take him back. For one, you don't know if he'll just up and quit again. I mean he has done it once already. Plus I would have to assume that as the creator of the show that he is also a writer. So why would he write a skit that offends him and then go ahead and perform it.
On the other hand let's say he didn't write it. If it was that offensive too him all he had to do is say he wouldn't do it. Or at least explain why he didn't want to do it. I see this as the same catergory as Isaac Hayes quitting South Park cause he didn't like the episode that made fun of his beliefs. He was fine with bashing Christian, Jews, Muslims and the rest but as soon as you mess with Scientology it's bye bye.

Aug. 23, 2006, 12:18 a.m.He's saying that he's afraid the sketches might be reinforcing stereotypes in RETROSPECT. Obviously he didn't feel that way at the time or they wouldn't have been made. Sometimes you need to take a step back to get a clear perspective.

Aug. 23, 2006, 1:51 a.m.Dave Chappele and Carlos Mencia are the funniest two comedians since Jim Carey. And Jim Carey was the funniest since eddie murphy. Chris Rock and Jery Lewis are also worth a mention here.

Aug. 23, 2006, 8:07 a.m.trust me, nothing could be funnier, or conversely, more full of pathos, than a lot of the commentary that we get to read on these blogs

Aug. 23, 2006, 10:35 a.m.Carlos Mencia is complete garbage!...he's an unfunny, dopey rip off of Chappelle who is a genius! Comedy Central scrambled to find a replacement and failed miserably...please dont even use the two names in the same sentence...

Aug. 23, 2006, 12:31 p.m.Face it; most of these younger comedians are just ripping off the style of Richard Pryor and Red Foxx. With out these two these guys, the rest would all still be telling Knock Knock jokes.

Aug. 23, 2006, 1:21 p.m.I've thoroughly enjoyed watching Chappelle. I think he needs to know that people aren't stupid (for the most part) and that we know it's a joke!
