Are you serious?

Barbara Walters should quit because she fired one of her hosts?

It's a business people. Get over it.

BW should at least apologize for deception: (1) being deceptive herself at first (Tuesday she's praising Star, Wednesday she's berating her); (2) Encouraging Star to "leave with dignity" by lying about why she wasn't returning ("she could say whatever she wanted and we would back her up"); (3) not telling Star sooner why ABC was losing confidence in her; and most of all (4) if she's an award winning journalist, where is her passion for the truth? Is it not reasonable for viewers to ask out loud if there's anything else she's told us (or had her co-hosts tell us) that doesn't quite ring true? This show was supposed to elevate the perception of women on television.

I think Barbara Walters should apologize to Star Jones Renolds for her repulsive onair reaction and immediate firing because of Star's announcement on Tuesday. Star's announcement was so heart felt and dignified. I was shocked that Star was leaving in July, but also sad for the others she was leaving behind. They all looked sad at that moment too. They seemed to really love each other. Then on Wednesday,I saw the real Barbara Walters who was cruel and insensitive. If you love someone and expressed it to the world only to have that person slam you immediately after, it makes me wonder did she ever care about Star? I guess she didn't. Be careful Joy and Elizabeth there's a real treacherous person amoung you. But I guess you saw that for yourself on Wednesday.

I feel in our attempt to be “relational,” we forget that television is a business. Yes, it appeared that the ladies on The View genuinely care for each other, but true relationship transcends television. Ratings drive TV. If Star’s personal parade was a detriment to the show, her “friends” should have stepped in and intervened before her “boss” stepped in. If, after friendly intervention, the issues persisted, then, by all means, let her go. It’s business. I believe ABC had no intention of backing up whatever story she came up with to protect her feelings and dignity. If that were true, they would have backed up what what was said. If it is true that the execs wanted her fired in November, they are wrong for letting this drag on and become the circus that it is. I think The View's days are numbered. Star, learn from your mistakes, and move on. I wish you the best.
